The Canberra Short Film Festival showcases the best independent short films from around Australia and the world. We are a competition based festival, awarding filmmakers for their craft, with sponsored prizes in a number of different categories.
The event runs annually in November, across multiple venues in Canberra, the national capital of Australia. We are an intimate, fun festival where audience and filmmakers can connect and exchange ideas. The festival is enhanced with a social component including- forums, guest panels, Q&A’s networking and of course, a few parties.
CSFF is interested in films of any genre, style and length (up to 20 minutes – some categories having shorter length requirements), so long as it includes aspects of the following; high production value, innovation, thought provoking themes, great use of the medium and high entertainment value.
The judges want to see something beautiful, strange, scary, or joyful. We want our audiences to be taken on a ride to be affected by your films in any BIG way possible.
We are proud to be entering our 30th Season and with it, more wonderful opportunities to connect, showcase and celebrate short form filmmaking.
