🌟 What Sets AFIN Apart
AFIN isn’t just a festival—it’s a launchpad for storytellers. For 2025, we’re introducing an incredible new opportunity:

📢 NEW: First Nations Free Entry for Films

AFIN International Film Festival is committed to celebrating and supporting authentic Australian First Nations storytelling. To ensure that First Nations voices are heard and represented on screen, we are offering free entry for films that are either led by First Nations creatives OR meaningfully tell a First Nations story through collaboration with First Nations communities.

To qualify, films must meet specific eligibility criteria (see details below).

👉 Submit your film under the “First Nations Free Entry” category on FilmFreeway.

🎥 Your Short Screenplay, Produced!
One nominee or finalist from the Best Short Screenplay category will have their screenplay professionally produced by GP2 Entertainment in collaboration with FilmLab Academy.

Examples of recent GP2 Entertainment’s works:
* Horror Short – Lucky Devil – https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1100875100994358
* Dystopian Grounded Sci-Fi Short – 30 – https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=972604014883614

Additionally, we’ve expanded our approach to animated films, allowing them to compete in both the Feature Film and Short Film categories, ensuring they are celebrated alongside live-action works for their storytelling excellence.

At AFIN, we celebrate stories that transcend boundaries, honor filmmakers and screenwriters of all levels, and ensure what you create matters more than who you know.

🔑 Highlights of the Festival:
* Screenplay-to-Screen Production Prize: A rare chance to see your short story turned into a professionally produced film.

* Inclusive Recognition: Animated films are fully eligible within our Feature and Short Film categories, ensuring a fair competition for all storytelling formats.

* Truly Inclusive Community: Celebrating diverse voices, stories, and cultures from across the globe.

* Global Collaboration: Connecting Australian filmmakers with international peers to foster creativity and cross-cultural exchange.

* Fair and Transparent: Judged solely on artistic and technical merit—no bias, no privilege, just quality storytelling.

Our Mission

AFIN proudly stands as a beacon of cinematic celebration, embracing diverse and inclusive stories from all walks of life. We are committed to providing equal opportunities for filmmakers and screenwriters, ensuring a level playing field where creativity and excellence shine above all else.
