As Victoria’s leading industry based training provider, Open Channel training is focused on providing pathways for its graduates into work. With over 30 years training experience, you’ll find our graduates working throughout the industry. In January 2013, Open Channel will relocate to the Docklands Studios and deliver our courses in the heart of the Melbourne industry.

Open Channel offers a nationally recognised CERTIFICATE III PROGRAM for emerging filmmakers.

Michael Bissell completed his Certificate III in Media with Open Channel in August 2012, specialising in Documentary and making a short film on Snowboard manufacturing in Victoria. After completing his course, Open Channel supported Michael to get an industry attachment in the camera department on the ABC comedy series Problems, and Michael has since gone on to work as a Camera Assistant on SBS/FremantleMedia Series Better Man.

Since beginning the course, 2012 student Jane Hampson has worked as writer on ABC series Dance Academy, and her feature project Tamil Tigress was selected to pitch at Melbourne International Film Festival 37ºSouth: PostScript & Direct – a special initiative that enables selected emerging local screenwriters and screenwriter/producer teams to meet, and pitch to, a range of experienced Australian/NZ producers.
