From seasoned actors looking to hone skills, to complete beginners dabbling in drama for the first time, from amateur filmmakers, to Doctor Who fanatics, there’s something for everyone this summer at NIDA.

With more than 60 different courses to choose from NIDA Open short courses provide training in acting, presenting, filmmaking, directing, auditioning, presenting, writing, accents, set and costume design, sound design, stage management, music theatre and more.

These short courses are specifically designed to meet the needs of all age groups, catering to their level of experience. All courses for people aged 18 years+ are offered in foundation, specialised and advanced levels and reflecting the core teaching strengths of the NIDA training.

NIDA offers a whole range of dedicated screen courses for those looking to hone their directing, filmmaking, screen acting or presenting skills. From foundation courses like Directing for the Screen which focuses on teaching fundamental of camera skills and scene construction; or a course perfect for budding presenters is the specialised presenting course Autocue Essentials which will develop skills for a natural and professional performance while reading from an autocue; alternatively there is the advanced course NIDA Summer Documentary, where students will work to create an original documentary practicing the skills required to be both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.

Among the most popular in NIDA’s wide ranging catalogue of short courses are the Doctor Who courses. Following many requests from adult fans, NIDA Open are thrilled to also be offering Doctor Who courses for people aged 18year+ for the first time this January . The screen focused coures– Screen Acting: Doctor Who and Write your own Doctor Who Episode – are a perfect way to learn key skills and celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who.

NIDA two, three or five day short courses are on offer this December and January in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Adelaide.
