On Monday, the Independent Cinemas Association of Australia (ICAA) announced a pact with its Kiwi equivalent, the New Zealand Motion Picture Exhibitors Association (NZMPEA). Under the agreement, New Zealand independent exhibitors will become members of the Australian association with a permanent seat on the ICAA board.

NZMPEA President, Paul Desmond from Bay City Cinemas, said that the motivation behind the move was for the organisation to represent a larger number of screens, and therefore have a little more clout on the world stage.
