The 66th Sydney Film Festival opened last night at its flagship venue, the historic State Theatre, with a gala screening of Rachel Ward’s reunion drama Palm Beach. We’ll be covering that event and the film itself in more detail tomorrow.
Amidst the usual opening night speeches, including one from Festival Director Nashen Moodley, who opened his eighth fest to a packed auditorium, was the announcement by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, that the festival will receive a $5 million boost from the state government.
