Now in its fifteenth consecutive year, the Italian Film Festival is – by some considerable margin – the largest of the national film festivals arriving over the next few months. It kicks off in Auckland tonight and travels to seven centres in all, ending its run on 1 December in Tauranga.

Festival director Tony Lambert has selected 17 films from the last 3 years to make up the programme and is enjoying the recent renaissance the Italian industry has been experiencing, not least because it offers a larger number of films, including a larger number of good films, from which to make programming selections.
