Former Canadian ambassador tells truth about ‘Argo’

Ken Taylor, who served as Canada’s ambassador to Iran during the 1979 US hostage crisis, has spoken out about the fact and fictions of Ben Affleck’s Oscar winning film ‘Argo.’

Former Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor, who was involved in the real-life US hostage crisis depicted in Ben Affleck’s Argo, has long accused the film of downplaying the role of the Canadians in favour of depicting CIA agent Tony Mendez as the true hero of the story.

Following the film’s Academy Award win for Best Picture earlier in the week, Taylor has come out in full force to point out the differences between Affleck’s fictionalised account and what really happened.
