In 2013 a devastating fire took two hundred homes in the Blue Mountains in NSW. Many local businesses were forced to close and people lost their jobs due to the consequential drop in tourism that largely supports the regions economy.
‘Our economy lost $100 million in the 15 weeks after the fires, just from the loss in tourism visitation,’ said Creative Industries Cluster Manager Kelly Blainey.
