Love it or hate it – and we’ve heard both from net tragics – Wastelander Panda has great production values and a coherent cinematic voice. But Madman is better known for features than webisodes, which set Lyn Norfor to the phone with questions.

Nick Batzias, Head of Production at Madman, had been talking to some producers in South Australia and to Richard Harris, CEO, South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) looking for new projects – and found a panda. Wastelander Panda is a post-apocalyptic adventure series of four episodes (so far) about Arcayus, the last mutant panda of the Wasteland, and Rose – a human girl raised by his brother, Isaac, which has generated an online cult following – both in Australia and internationally.
