The Toronto International Film Festival has made its first announcements for 2013 covering 16 galas and 55 special presentations. Four Australian films are in this particular cut
TIFF describes the Galas as “Movie stars. Red carpet premieres. Major audience interest.”
In that slot goes The Railway Man, sweetened by Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth, for its world premiere. Based on the true story of Eric Lomax, a tormented prisoner of the Japanese who confronts his captors again thirty years later. Produced as a UK-Australia co-production by Andy Paterson, Chris Brown and Bill Curbishley, it is written by Patterson with Frank Cottrell Boyce and directed by Jonathan Teplitzky.
