In a roller-coaster day of dreadful ironies, the government pulls out of media reform, the only changes threaten the independent production sector, and an adroit, patient Minister for the Arts gets rolled for doing his duty.

On Wednesday night, the Bills which relax the financial pressure on the commercial television companies were passed, while the production sector lost its bid to defend content quotas against creeping erosion.
