The Labor Party has named PM Jason Clare as the shadow minister for communications, with Michelle Rowland as the shadow assistant minister in the portfolio. Clare appears to have no discernible communications experience.
The move pits Clare, the member for Blaxland and minister for home affairs and minister for justice in the previous Labor government, up against Malcolm Turnbull.
