Jan Sardi, Seph McKenna, Penny Chapman and Emile Sherman discussed the international market and the place that Australian content has within it. Pre-empting the marketplace, they said, and sacrificing the originality of an idea, can be the most detrimental path to go down.

“The paradox is that everyone wants the new original thing that’s been done before.” Emile Sherman said. The clear message of this conversation between four of Australia’s most successful practitioners of film and television, however, was that, as Sherman put it “originality is the key.”
