The May 2015 round of Screen Australia production funding is full of the way in which our national screen sector is becoming part of a cosmopolitan world. We have very local stories like a Tim Winton novel reaching for international audiences, Australians coming home and a film from an Indian-Australian production company. Nearly every project is derived from genres rooted in no place but the universe of story, but with that underlying twist that speaks of our collective identity. How else can Blackfella Films make a crime film written by Kris Wyld and Kym Goldsworthy​, veterans of mainstream television production for broad audiences?
