Spongebob Squarepants touches down in Australia to bring a heap of PDV money.

Screen Australia has taken to the positive point of view about the successes of the sector like Russell Crowe in the Roman arena – but with no chance of a nasty ending. The release of the Drama Report for 2013/14 is a pretty good springboard.

‘The most important thing to say’, said Screen Australia CEO Graeme Mason on the phone, ‘is that there is strength across the sector – local films and foreign films are both up, drama is only down marginally from a very big high, and we are seeing new ways of content being made like Wastelander Panda.’ So he is celebrating ‘the strength and the breadth and the depth’ of the sector.
