International travelling exhibitions are now at the heart of modern museum programs, but they are not so much tradeable things as organisms which evolve as they move from site to site. 

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image is well placed to feed on this process. The circuit of image centres is small and collegiate, by definition modern, and mostly digital. The Scorsese exhibition, which launches on May 28, is a prime opportunity.
