Beneath the Nullarbor Plain, you can float in deep water like interstellar space. Pitch black, utterly transparent, a void of flashlight beams, bubbles and divers in silhouette. Touch the silty floor with a fin and the space goes black and you must feel your way out, your fingers creeping across the ceiling, reaching for the guide rope, afraid you are upside down and crawling across the floor. Miss the exit, and you will die in here.
It was here that Sanctum really began. Diver Andrew Wight was leading an expedition through the caves in 1988 when a piece of roof fell in, and he was trapped in darkness for two days with fifteen frightened people.
