The ABC nudges 950,000 with a documentary, proving that a blast from the past can buck a distressing modern trend.

You’d have to say that the Clive James doc nudges all the sticky tropes – an old, funny larrikin, success overseas, no less than two illnesses, a practiced TV performer and Kerry O’Brien defanged by unexpected empathy. Still 945,000 is a great result. 316,000 in Melbourne to 296,000 in Sydney despite the harbour connection.
