Last week, Nine had the AFL The Footy Show. This week it ran the NRL version. What happened?

Nine had 35.2% of the evening’s share last week, courtesy of the Grand Final buildup. Take that away, and Seven jumps 3.4%, Ten gains 1.9%, the ABC 1%, and even SBS is up 1.2%. Footy is a national drug.

However, the returns for Sydney and Brisbane will be different, because Nine did broadcast the NRL version of The Footy Show. No figures for that, though TV Tonight points out that Top Gear, the alternative for Nine, did 253,000 in 3 cities, while The Footy Show scored 407,000. That adds up to 670,000 for the 8.30 Nine slot across the capital cities.
