Squizzy Taylor may have died because the taxi carrying him bleeding to hospital got caught in a traffic jam. The series is going down for more prosaic reasons. Less than half a million people want to watch it.

Ten gained strongly from the last episode of MasterChef Australia, which leapt from 716,000 to 1,057m. The 7.30 start put it an hour into Nine’s Australia’s Got Talent, almost steady on 1,124m, and Seven’s X-Factor down 222,000 at 1.3m. Last week was a bonus for Seven, as it was the live performance edition.
