The Queensland government may not notice, but it has been in a world of pain in both the arts and screen areas since its election.
Just before the Newman government swept to power across Queensland on the 26th March 2012, the two parties clashed briefly over arts policy on ABC radio. The conservative LNP was represented by its arts spokesperson Scott Emerson. He had been an experienced journalist for both the ABC and The Australian. He claimed that “”Our commitment is not to cut funding for the arts at all – we are committed to maintain funding in the arts. But we do think we can use some of that funding better.”
