Net-work-play: launched with affection and a touch of contradiction

The launch of the 2015 gathering of the documentary clans turned into intense speeches, heartfelt thanks and a celebration of inspiring achievement.

The launch for Net-Work-Play occurred after a full day of conference. It turned out to be an emotional event, with Pauline Clague winning the Stanley Hawes Award.

Jack Buckskin, dark eyed, rail thin and enormously assured, provided a Welcome to Country which took us into the construction of Aboriginal names, the way he learnt the language of his forebears, and the luminous image of people known to their country by their smell. His own story is known through Buckskin, a 2013 documentary by Dylan McDonald and produced by Penny McDonald.
