With Des Monaghan retiring, Bob Campbell (63) takes charge of Screentime, an international operation that the two built together since 1996 and sold to Banijay in 2012. With 26 permanent staffers and an annual revenue in the range of AU$40-50 million, he’s lining up new projects.
Seeing his business partner do the rounds in the Palais for one last time, Campbell is all too aware of an era winding down. “He’s done forty MIPs. He’s stepping down from his role as [Executive] Chairman.” What motivated his decision? “I think he thinks the time is right. He’s 75. And he’s a terrific 75, fit and energetic. He’s going to work part-time, he’s got two projects. He won’t be lost to us. He will advise and mentor the rest of us. And it will give other people a good opportunity to step up. So it’s sort of a natural order of succession of things,” Campbell explained in the lobby of the Majestic Barriére Hotel.
