Caught in the frenzy of the marketplace, Jude Troy, the managing director of Hopscotch Entertainment discussed parent company eOne’s plans for pushing Australian dramas on the crowded international market. The acquisition of the $4m TV-movie, The Broken Shore is just the beginning.

The $AU$4 million budget has been put together by ABCTV, Screen Australia and Film Victoria. Written by Peter Temple, upon whose work the Jack Irish telemovies are based (they aired on ABC1, starring Guy Pearce), The Broken Shore exposes dark secrets “behind a community’s respectable mask,” involving ” police corruption, racism, and family tragedy,” according to the press communiqué.
