All financing deals bring strings, and the unusual class of investment deals offered by film festivals bring unusual strings. This is how they played out for the MIFF Premiere Fund Films in the Melbourne festival this year.

Six films made with MIFF Premiere Fund investment will screen at this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival (25 July – 11 August). The four fiction features are: the Robert Connolly ‘curated’ omnibus Tim Winton’s The Turning (produced with Maggie Miles); the Perth-set end of the world drama These Final Hours (written and directed by Zak Hilditch and produced by Liz Kearney); the Canberra bushfires teen drama Galore (written and directed by Rhys Graham and produced by Philippa Campey); and the supernatural thriller remake Patrick (directed by Mark Hartley, produced by Antony I Ginnane and written by Justin King).
