MIFF 2015: 370 worlds cast loose on darkened city

The ceremonial opening of the Melbourne International Film Festival turned out to be a sombre affair, dominated by a sense of return and darker passions. 

The place itself is overwhelmingly convenient, down to the separate corner for the dancers bathed in their purple glow at the end of the night, but it always feels like the architectural inspiration came from a bathroom catalogue with a touch of Albert Speer.
