Metro to Close. This is a disgrace.

It is with deep regret and considerable sadness that the Board of Directors of Metro Screen has announced that the Sydney-based organisation will close at the end of 2015.

Metro’s official announcement is clear and complete and the organisation has little to add. The responses on the Metro facebook page are heartbreaking

For the larger arts community, this is a desperate sign of the times. Kingston Anderson, the CEO of the Australian Directors’ Guild, was on Metro’s Emerging Sector Working Party which considered the wider issues facing emerging screen creators for a report to be issued in November.
