The Broadcasting Legislation Amendment (Convergence Review and Other Measures) Bill 2013, and the Television Licence Fees Amendment Bill 2013 are both through Parliament. Wrangling continues on the other four bills, which contain the dreaded Public Interest Media Advocate. AKA the Beast which Will Destroy Democracy.

It is game over for the guilds which have fought hard to insert a first run provision into the multichannels. The thing passed, and now goes to the Senate. What is more, it is now separated out, so it won’t be rejected if Conroy does throw his expected tantrum if the other bills fail.
