The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is a remarkable creation – by far the largest of the nation-based film festivals on the Australian calendar, and also the only one which is supported by state government money. The others, mostly nesting with Palace, rely on a mix of grants from their home governments, local cultural associations and voluntary labour.
