How did the Brisbane International Film Festival come back from the grave?

The resurrection of the Brisbane International Film Festival is something to behold.

In its latest incarnation, it is being auspiced by Palace Films, which has licensed the name for a year from Screen Queensland, and is working through a separate entity with distinct books to be audited as part of the acquittal process. The festival has been conjured from nothing in a few months and opens with sixty films on 17 August, using Palace venues.
