BBC Worldwide and Foxtel have announced a new BBC Premiere channel, with first run content that aired within hours of its UK release. But is it closing the free-to-air window on the ABC, or just finding a home for product that BBC Worldwide can’t sell. Foxtel also picks up a first-look at all BBC Worldwide Lifestyle programming.

At first glance, the deal looks like it will have a negative impact on the ABC, with content on the new channel withheld from free-to-air broadcast for at least twelve months.
