Fortissimo files for bankruptcy

Fortissimo, a prime arthouse sales agent active in Australia and Asia, has filed for voluntary bankruptcy in the Netherlands. It is not the only one.

Established in 1991, Fortissimo Films has specialised in arthouse films around the world, with a catalogue of prime filmmakers which includes Australia and Asian cinema as well. Under founders Wouter Barendrecht and Helen Loveridge, and Michael Werner, it developed a level of mystique and panache which compelled substantial attention in festival and arthouse exhibition circles. It had taste, daring and imagination.
