There is an enigma about the creation of the South Australian Film Corporation, one that is difficult to reconcile.

Phillip Adams and Irving Saulwick’s strongly advised that the proposed organisation not be a ‘film maker’. Then they said that feature film production was something it might only be undertake far into the future. Yet a man with known feature film ambitions, Gil Brealey, was chosen as its founding director.
