Digital Cinema Network and Omnilab Media have agreed to last-minute mediation in a bid to head off four weeks of hearings in the damages phase of their long-running dispute over digitization of independent cinemas in Australia and New Zealand. Lawyers not connected to the case have told ScreenHub that damages could be as high as $10 million.
The Federal Court in Melbourne has made orders that the parties attend mediation on Monday, 21 October, with the results to be reported to the court on Wednesday, 23 October. Mediation will take place before a Registrar.
