With just the right mix of pomp, perfidy, Prada and presales, Julie Marlow hunts the money stories through the madness of the Cannes multitudes. Broadcast involvement, for instance, is taking a dive at the shallow end of the pool, and spectators are waiting anxiously for a lifeguard.

The rain has stopped, but then came the wind, which today has died down (somewhat). What this really meant was that on the weekend, there was a run on L’Oreal hairspray at the ever popular Monoprix. Ssh, don’t tell anyone but Geoff Brown got some. Extra Hold to tame those fine flyaway locks. I’ll say no more.
