The Australian Directors’ Guild will hold its annual awards night on May 3rd, and tickets are now on sale. Given that this is a rare moment for directors to actually see each other, expect them to go quickly, especially as you can now spend a mere $35 and opt for the ceremony and not the knees-up.

The Guild is also happy to announce that the demand last year was so high it has found a bigger venue. Hoyts Cinema at the Entertainment Quarter, well able to encourage a bit of glam, will house the thrills and tears of the awards, while the food will be decorously imbibed at the Trackdown Studios nearby. Decorously because it has a very fine floor and a lot of delicate equipment which doesn’t want bits of prawn inside it.
