Iranian films tend to make true filmlovers happy – beautifully made, modestly conceived, from a very foreign culture and a touch of heroism to the production. So the Iranian Film Festival has some gems. But why is it starting in Brisbane?

The reasons is simple. Anne Demy-Geroe, who ran the Brisbane International Film Festival until 2010, lives in Queensland and runs the festival. Her being an expert and devotee of the material.
