UK viewers will be startled to find an actual ABC commissioned drama on BBC1. Never happened before, according to production company December Films.
The competitive nuances of overseas sales are finely graded, to reflect the splintering of the broadcast sector. But producers will always get a spring in their steps from a free-to-air broadcast, and prefer main to sidebar digital channels. And the BBC remains the prime player, and BBC1 with its dominant audience, is the primest player of all.
