Box Office: in which we wait for Fury Road…

The Left Ear, a Chinese domestic picture, did very well on limited release here, in a quiet sign of the times.

Image: Ex Machina, given a teeny release in Australia but more muscular in the US.

The Left Ear is loose upon the world!  This film was presented very modestly in Australia by Magnum Films, on all of eight screens. But it opened at $12,100/screen to take $97,000.

It is Alec Su’s first feature, cost a reputed US$10m, and is a Chinese coming of age film. It released all of three weeks ago in its domestic market, led the box office on US$31m, and was the third highest grosser around the world. Sign. Of. The. Times.
