Son of a Gun – maybe we are not attracted to films about Australia tough guys.

Boyhood has been an unqualified success in Australia – a long arthouse movie with no particularly strong story, no edge-of-your-seat tension, no clear mythic shape and simple subject. The word of mouth has been terrific from its first moments at the film festivals, and has continued through its seven weeks in the cinemas.
