The Motion Picture Distributors’ Association of Australia has released its top ten earners for 2012. The industry spin is as always positive, but there is a tinge of sadness in the details for the local sector.

According to the MPDAA, the exhibition sector has bounced back off a slightly down year of 2011, to record a gain of 2.8%, which almost equals the 2010 high. The total is $1,125,536,000, or $1.25b.
