Image: Pride. Doing fine over here.
We are now seeing the results of some interesting experiments in distribution strategy from some mainstream players. Entertainment One has released Pride, a traditional socialist rip-roarer complete with downtrodden miners and a Billy Bragg song, which is also primarily centred on gay and lesbian characters and politics. It went wide(ish), on 130 cinemas which puts it out into the multiplexes. The first week saw $595,198 in box office, including $55,000 in previews. That means $4000 per screen, which is a pretty good figure and will give it another week of mainstream play.
