Saved at the eleventh hour by a local council which turned out to have more vision than the State government, the Asia Pacific Screen Awards regains its mojo with a full list of nominees for 2013.

One of the nice things about the APSA list is the way it tends not to create the bandwagon effect where the same names circulate through all the categories. Five pictures had two nominations; only Omar from Palestine had three, for best actor, best cinematography and best feature. Even that is not nominated for best director.
