APFF: closes out year in Macau, spreads award love wide

Ritesh Batra’s The Lunchbox took three awards to be the most-awarded title at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival in Macau on Sunday. Three other titles took a pair of awards.

A more commercially focused affair than the Asia-Pacific Screen Awards, the APFF also operates a tighter definition of the “Asia” part of its title, and rarely strays far west of India in either its nominations or awards. Hence the land of the rising sun took away the two biggest awards from the APFF, having last week landed none at the APSA event.
