Cinema exhibitor Amalgamated Holdings Limited, which owns Greater Union, Birch Carroll and Coyle, Event Cinemas in New Zealand, and 50 per cent of the Village Roadshow circuit (as well as cinema technology company Edge Digital) has reported an after tax profit of $85.79 million, up 7.6 per cent.
According to its Preliminary Final Report, lodged with the Australian Security Exchange, “Domestic Exhbition produced a strong result due to an increase in merchandising sales and other revenues, which offset a relatively flat box office. Box office was underpinned by three titles, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
