The AFTRS research, commissioned by its new CEO Neil Peplow, arrives at a moment of introspection for the screen sector. Box office records collide with new figures about gender disparity. Government cuts are painful.  We are said to have the oldest emerging filmmakers in the world. Peplow regards the Metro Screen Emerging Visions report, delivered just as it dies, as a valuable starting point.
