Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis has been nominated for eight Oscars, including best picture.
The biopic, starring Austin Butler as Presley, is also nominated for best actor, cinematography, make-up and hairstyling, editing and sound.
Catherine Martin, who is married to Luhrmann, was a co-producer on the film and has won more Oscars than any other Australian, was nominated for best costumes, best production design and, as a producer, best picture. Director of photography Mandy Walker, should she win, will be the first woman to win an Oscar for best cinematography.
