The Bridge by Sydney filmmaker George Barbakadze was announced as the winner of the City of Melbourne Emerging Filmmaker Award for Best Australian Queer Short Film on Saturday March 11 at the Volkswagen Melbourne Queer Film Festival.
As recipient of this award, Barbakadze walks away with a substantial cash prize of $2,000, demonstrating the commitment of principal sponsor the City of Melbourne, to this very popular festival- the largest queer film festival in Australia. The judging came down to the wire with an extremely strong selection of films illustrating a very promising future for Australian film.
