SPAA welcomes budget initiatives for the industry

SPAA welcomes the Government’s commitment of $10m per year over 3 years to the ABC for new television drama and documentary under a scheme to be called ABC Independent. SPAA recognises that the package, though modest, should have a positive impact on the independent production sector. It will go some way to redressing the low levels of ABC drama production and provide the Australian public with more Australian stories on their screens. SPAA will be clarifying the fine detail of the establishment of an ABC Independent with Minister Coonan and the ABC Board.
